A few words from Dr. Cocchiola
Coercive Control Trauma-Informed Clinician, Attorney, and Coach Certification Training is a comprehensive SELF-STUDY educational training to support Clinicians, Attorneys, and Coaches, and anyone who identifies as an Ally, in becoming coercive control trauma-informed interventionists. Protective parents need informed allies who can support them as they navigate escaping a coercively controlling [abusive] relationship and parenting a child who may be going between the home of the coercive controller and their own home. Your role is so important to this population, and you are doing a lot of the "front line" work.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and coercive control expert and a trauma-trained clinician. For my Doctorate in Clinical Social Welfare, I researched the experiences of adult and child victims of coercive control. I am a college professor teaching social work and specifically educating on the topic of domestic abuse and sexual assault for over 20 years and have been a social justice advocate in the prevention of child abuse since the age of 19. Most importantly, I am a Survivor and Protective Mom.
Education is my #1 priority. Education will prevent future generations from suffering this trauma. I have created programming around topics related to trauma and abuse for over 25 years. I believe we all have so much to offer to our clients. Having the specific knowledge related to coercive control will enhance our ability to support our clients towards post-traumatic growth.
